LESSON: TAKING CHARGE OF YOUR HEALTH & UNDERSTANDING HEALTH AND WELLNESS
OBJECTIVES: Students will be able to make responsible decisions and set health-related goals to promote their overall well-being as well as being able to understand the importance of health and wellness, identify healthy choices, and practice healthful behaviors.

LESSON: UNDERSTANDING MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS, ACHIEVEING MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH, BULLYING, BUILDING STRONG RELATIONSHIPS
OBJECTIVES: Students will be able to identify risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems including suicide, and explore potential treatments and supports as well as understanding how good mental and emotional health contributes to healthy self-esteem, managing stress, and coping with loss. Students will also be able to identify and apply skills necessary for building and maintaining strong and healthy relationships while not bullying or being bullied.

LESSON: UNDERSTANDING NUTRITION FOR HEALTH: MANAGING WEIGHT AND EATING BEHAVIORS
OBJECTIVES: Students will be able to analyze the Components of a balanced diet and develop personal strategies for managing their weight and eating behaviors.

LESSON: THE IMPORTANCE OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND FITNESS
OBJECTIVES: Students will be able to identify the benefits of physical activity, demonstrate safe practices while engaging in physical activity, and create a personal fitness improvement plan.
Assessment: Create a Power point presentation over Physical Activity and Fitness and Present/teach to the class.

Lesson: Personal Health Care
OBJECTIVES: Students will be able to explain the importance of personal health care practices for skin, hair, and nails and demonstrate proper techniques for maintain these aspects of personal hygiene.

LESSON: Skeletal, Muscular, Nervous System
OBJECTIVES: Students will be able to identify and describe the functions of the skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems and how they work together to support body movement and coordination.

LESSON: Cardiovascular, Digestive, Respiratory, Excretory Systems
OBJECTIVES: Students will be able to explain the structure and function of the cardiovascular, digestive, and respiratory systems and describe how they interact with one another to maintain homeostasis.

LESSON: Endocrine and Reproductive Health
OBJECTIVES: Students will be able to explain the structure and function of the endocrine and reproductive systems, illustrating how they work together to regulate bodily functions.

LESSON: Sexually Transmitted Disease/Infections
OBJECTIVES: Students will learn to recognize the importance of protecting yourself from STD’s, and to learn the symptoms, diagnoses, and treatments for common STDs, including HIV/AIDS, as well as learning about various noncommunicable diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes. Goal to learn how to prevent or help care for such diseases.

LESSON: Communicable Diseases
OBJECTIVES: Students will focus on learning about communicable disease, including how they spread, how to prevent their spread, and how the body responds to infection and what to do to prevent spread of infection, and what causes the infection.

LESSON: Hand Washing Experiments
OBJECTIVES: Students will learn how to properly wash hands to prevent the spread of illness.
December 2-6
LESSON: Medicine, Alcohol, and Smoking
OBJECTIVES: Students will focus on the different types of medicines, reactions to medicines, and using medicines safely, and obtain the knowledge of dangers of Tobacco/Alcohol Use, while gaining goals to never use drugs/alcohol/ or medicine improperly. Students will learn that illegal drugs affect the body and provide knowledge on how to avoid drug use and situations that may cause someone to use illegal drugs.

LESSON: Community/Environmental Health/First Aid Safety Prevention
OBJECTIVES: To understand the importance of the health care system, public health, and the impact of air quality on your health. How can we make the environment a healthier place to live, also learning what common injuries are and how to prevent them indoor and outdoor.

LESSON: CPR
OBJECTIVES: Students will learn what CPR is and what an AED is used, as well as performing CPR and how to use an AED to understand the importance of this life saving act.
